About the Artwork:
釜茹贋金#1 is one of a series of sliced silicone artworks created by French artist Bruno Botella. Botella started his process by casting a large mass of silicone in the form of a large pyramid, which also contains within it various silicone prosthetics and sex toys.
Once the silicone set, the mold was opened and slices of the structure were cut, framed, and positioned in pairs to face the remains of the pyramid, so that the display resembled a projector. As the pyramid is only purchasable in slices, it’s scale decreases over time according to its commercial success.

Bruno BOTELLA:
Bruno Botella is a French artist specializing in process-based experiments that explore altered consciousness and corporeal perception. He studied at New York's Cooper Union before graduating from the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts, Paris, in 2000. His practice incorporates materials like anesthetic clay and medicinal leeches, often in collaboration with artists such as Kohei Nawa. A recent project, ‘Trojan Bed’ (2023), is an installation developed with Nawa that uses an EEG device to translate a sleeper's brainwaves into drawings. He has held solo exhibitions at venues like the Palais de Tokyo in Paris and the Fondazione Arnaldo Pomodoro in Milan. His work is held in public collections, including the Museo Tamayo and France's Centre National des Arts Plastiques (FNAC).
